Hello!  I am Dr. Vanessa Lee N.D., and I grew up right near here, in Coquitlam. I’ve been practicing Naturopathic Medicine for over 15 years, and focus on individualized, whole-person care. I believe that symptom management is beneficial in the short term, but treating the root cause of issues creates long lasting results. Each patient’s story is a unique & complex puzzle to me, and I love working with people to figure out how their pieces fit back together to make them whole again.

Despite the struggle, I’ve come to see that dealing with my own health issues over the years has been a gift. The digestive issues, acne & skin problems, seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, stress, muscle tension, back pain, headaches, anxiety, and fatigue… all allow me to understand patients more deeply and motivate me to dig deeper in the exploration of treatment options. I know change can happen when patients are motivated to recognize and put forth effort into their own health, and am grateful to be able to play a role in the journey towards physical/mental/emotional/spiritual balance. I encourage patients to think long-term about their naturopathic care, as we often work in a stepwise fashion to reveal the deeper layers of optimal health.

My Background: After graduating from SFU with a Bachelor of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology, my studies took me to Toronto, where I completed the 4-year Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM).  Love kept me in downtown Toronto for 7 more years, where I established & ran a busy naturopathic clinic.  I treated health issues ranging from women’s health, digestive regulation, stress management, general healthy living/disease prevention and everything in between.

A rare opportunity came in 2011; my husband (also a Naturopathic Doctor) and I moved near Chicago, Illinois to support to cancer patients undergoing conventional treatments in a hospital setting. As a “Naturopathic Oncology Provider” I significantly broadened my knowledge of both conventional & natural cancer care (I became a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology – FABNO) and learned how these two paths can work together.  While undergoing proven conventional cancer treatments, patients can be safely supported naturally (keeping in mind that many natural substances may interact with medications and chemotherapies).

After our daughter was born in 2016, my husband and I moved back to B.C. to be near our families.  Providing naturopathic care at Aster Wellness Center has helped me reconnect to the local community, and personally rediscover what it means to feel centred, now that I’m home.
