Hi, I am Gabrielle! I am born and raised in the Lower Mainland and have been a French Immersion teacher for the past 10 years in the Coquitlam school district. Before teaching I worked closely training first responders and office staff. I have recently completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and excited to be applying my new skills here at Aster.
My first experiences with counselling were as a client and what I enjoyed about the process was the ability to talk through my problems, feel supported and learn more about myself. As a therapist, teacher and human I am all about connection and relationships. My job is to create space for you to explore your experiences while feeling connected and supported. I know each person has their unique gifts, experiences and challenges and I am here to be your companion on the road to discovery.
I am vivacious and live by the principle “laughter is the best medicine”. I love meeting new people and it is always a priority of mine to try to put people at ease. I love a good conversation and have experienced that give and take of dialogue in therapy as a positive thing. I’m a straight talker who is going to be honest with you always while doing so in a caring and non-judgemental way.
I approach my therapy with a sex-positive, LGBTQA+ ally feminist lens. It’s important to me to be always growing and learning from others and challenging myself to take perspectives I may not have previously considered. I am continuing to grow my expertise as a life-long learner and am flexible in my modalities and can pivot to what best meets my client’s needs.
I hope we can meet and connect to create a plan for your healing and self-discovery together.
